I originally had no clue that skiing was even possible in Japan. I had never heard of anyone doing it. For the majority of the country, there aren't great skiing areas (mostly due to weather and geography), but in northern Japan, the skiing would make even the Swiss drool. Completely jaw-dropping views with very well groomed trails and picturesque villages.
This was a brilliant escape from school. Norway brought me into a wonderland with culture and natural beauty in every direction. When we were hiking, I saw my first glacier: enormous in scale. This may have been top five places I've ever been.
